Portfolio A

A Croquis!

It takes 45sec-1min.
I try to use different mediums such as charcoal or compressed charcoal. However, ink is the best one for me.
With Ink, it’s possible to make a strong line, similar to Matisse’s dancing art work. Moreover, it is also inspired by the women’s body.

▪ Size : 9 X 12
▪ Medium : Sumi Ink

A picture of still life!

I decided to make multiple layers, inspired by the branches of a tree with sky. Of course, I mixed water and ink in different densities, and using bamboo reed pens, I drew lots of lines even more. Mainly I used Bamboo reed pens, but brush is the best for shading. I applied the background with a pottery sponge since they give various textures. I drew using newsprint paper this time, but it dries out fast even better.

A picture of still life!

Earthenware pots have great curves that are easy to express light and shade.
I used a 4B pencil, and tried to make strong strokes on sketch paper. I just wanted to try to show how lines are different between shades.

▪ Size : 11 X 13
▪ Medium : Pencil – 4B, Eraser

Figure Drawing!

This figure drawing also focuses on her body. The light comes through left hand side. This time, I tried different shading inspired by the shading. In some areas, such as under the breasts, the shading is a little rough, so I would like to apply more of this style.
Mainly, I used H pencil and I used B pencil for some of dark areas on the drawing paper.

▪ Size : 18 X 24
▪ Medium : Pencils – H, B

Figure Drawing!

His back, under his arm, and muscles are very soft. I applied many strokes with an HB pencil. In fact, light comes anywhere except some of part his face between his fingers, his neck, inside shoulder, under arms and the calf of the leg. I use B pencil for the waist and for shading the belly.
The soft feeling was inspired by the flow the water motion that appears soft and tender. Therefore, I would like to try to do more of this work.

▪ Size : 18 X 24
▪ Medium : Pencils – HB, H, B, Kneaded Rubber

Strong Character!

First, I drew the lines with black pen to make squares which are one-inch-by-one-inch on drawing paper.
It’s good for perspective drawing because it helps the artist measure I believe. I try to do different shading each time. Based on the square, I thought it was possible to make perfect. In addition, I changed the pencils when I applied shading, so that creates more variety.

▪ Size : 10.5 X 12
▪ Medium : Pencils – HB, 2B and 4B, Black Pen, Kneaded Rubber, Soft Eraser

Figure Drawing!

In this figure drawing, I tried doing volume. I applied black with compressed charcoal on drawing paper. Based on that shading, I tried to focus on the light source. Inspired by the original picture, I notice that light is very important if I want to express the volume of the figure more realistically.

▪ Size : 18 X 24
▪ Medium : Compressed Charcoal, Kneaded Rubber, Eraser or Pencil Eraser, Charcoal

Contour Figure Drawing!

I tried to convey a feeling of smoothness and softness with this drawing. I would like to make the edges more well-defined.
First, I applied black with compressed charcoal on the drawing paper, and then added the light and shade with an eraser. The darkest area I used compressed charcoal. The brightest area I used a pencil eraser that looks way too clean.

▪ Size : 18 X 24
▪ Medium : Compressed Charcoal, Kneaded Rubber, Eraser or Pencil Eraser, Charcoal

Using all different!

I just wanted to make a comparison with an original picture completely except I added color. In addition, I also touched with warm and cool colors again. For the layer of paint, I painted black on the entire canvas except the dress. I tried to apply almost the same balance of layers followed by vertical lines. On the horizontal line, I applied blue, green, yellow green, white and black.

▪ Size : 16 X 20
▪ Medium : Acrylic

Flower!

I don’t like flowers, but I like coffee. I like looking at flowers while I am having some coffee. The background color is inspired by the color of coffee. White flowers give me lots of bright energy, so that is why I chose white. In fact, I also try to draw using watercolor, but I think white works better on a canvas.
Some of red or pink colors add a little bit of variety. The vase has much variety of shades. The light source is from the lower part of the left hand side.

▪ Medium : Acrylic
